FAQs

What is "Neurodivergent Coaching"?
Neurodivergent coaching is like having your very own life sherpa, but instead of climbing mountains, we're tackling the wild terrain of neurodivergent experiences. I'll be your guide, confidant, and all-around cheerleader as we navigate the twists and turns of your unique brain wiring.

Think of it as a support system that celebrates your quirks, helps you conquer challenges, and helps you live an unapologetic life where you ditch the constant brain battles and thrive.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Therapy is like a deep dive into the waters of your mind. It's all about exploring the past and present, uncovering emotions, and healing the wounds that may be holding you back. Therapists are like expert detectives, helping you understand the why behind your thoughts and behaviors. They're the masters of uncovering the hidden treasures of your psyche, equipped with powerful tools to navigate mental health challenges.

Coaching is a cheerleader with a strategic playbook in hand, ready to rally you towards your goals. Coaching is all about the here and now, my friend. We're focused on creating positive changes, setting ambitious goals, and developing the strategies that will help you level up in life. I'm your personal hype person, empowering you to tap into your strengths, take action, and achieve extraordinary results. Think of coaching as your partner in crime, helping you rewrite your story, overcome obstacles, and become your dream version of yourself.

Do I take insurance?
While I don't accept insurance, I do offer a sliding fee for those in need. Just shoot me an email, and we'll discuss the details.

What are my qualifications?
I have a lifetime of lived experience with ADHD, along with nearly 20 years of managing a traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress.

In terms of educational qualifications, I hold a Master's in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. This program focused on helping individuals assess their strengths and weaknesses and develop strategies for creating a fulfilling life.

Additionally, I have received training in peer support, mentorship, and coaching, and I am actively pursuing various coaching certifications. I stay up-to-date with the latest research on ADHD and autism, particularly in relation to women, people of color, and the LGBTQIA community. Continuous learning and growth are essential to my work.

If I have a degree in mental health counseling, why am I not a therapist?
The short answer is that I made a conscious decision not to pursue full licensure as a therapist.

Why, you ask? Well, the longer answer is that while working on my master's degree and serving as a counselor in training, I realized that I was still dealing with my own challenges related to PTSD. Balancing my own healing journey with supporting others in crisis was taking a toll on my well-being. Additionally, I had always harbored dreams of being self-employed. So, together with my husband, we made the decision that I would step away from pursuing a therapist license and instead focus on working for myself after dedicating time to my personal recovery.

Enter coaching—a realm where I can still fulfill my strong desire to support others and help them improve their lives. Coaching allows me to bring together my personal experiences, my professional training, and my passion for helping neurodivergent individuals thrive.
